Uefa Euro 2000 (c) Electronic Arts

iSO, released by FAiRLiGHT 02-08-00. nfo

There was FIFA 2000 released some time ago by EA and it was simply great football game, the best that I've ever been playing, I was wondering what have they added or improved in this next soccer game.

Install of the game was just default, worked nicely. You had to copy the cracked exe from root of the cd into the game dir able to start.
First of, the 3d setup supported the direct3d resolutions: 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768 and 1280x1024, where I selected (like I usually do) the highest resolution.

The game itself looked only a bit different than Fifa 2000 (f2k), basically the same options were available like team management etc. But the weird thing was that where f2k was great in framerate and graphics, the E2K basically sucks. I mean the 1280*1024 framerate was terrible and the player graphics were re-done to make them look not-so-nice. The players didnt look much like their real world counterparts, in f2k for example the Holland team is really greatlooking and Overmars, De Boer & Kluivert really look like they are alive ducth guys out there :) The gameplay lagged too much to enjoy it fully at the maximum detail settings & resolution, which was pretty sad, the old f2k worked just perfectly on the test-machine.
Normal gameplay was just same as f2k like keys etc. No improvements in that section and I dont really even need any, the f2k looked so goddamn good.

Other strange anomaly was that mouse pointer went crazy on the menus, it moved without me moving the mouse and when I did, the pointer moved like 2 x times the amount it should :) very weird. I thought that it fixed a bit when I took the optiosn->graphics details to lower.

Conclusion

If you want to play cool football/soccer game, I'd suggest that you dig up your own archives and install Fifa 2000 which is in my books far better product than brand new Uefa Euro 2000. If you dont have neither one... well err. I guess its ok to download e2k, even if its slower than fifa... you may have faster computer than I, and of course you can slide down the detail settings. But all in all, if you want GOOD football or soccer (what ever) game, this EA product is it. f2k/e2k simply rules!
