F1 World Grand Prix
(c) Video System / Eidos

iSO, released by Fairlight 06-14-00. nfo

installation went fine, usual FLT quality seen once again, unrar, burn (68min), install and copy the cracked exe from the cracked-dir-on-cd and voila, works. So how is the game, umm...

This game blows goats.

What can I say, it really really sucks if you are like me, who looks F1 racing simulation, and not some geekass psx arcade crap. This game is next on in the series after the Official F1 Racing, not much have change at least to my eye on the actual racing part, menus are different but with about same features.

Here is some helicopter track introduction

Graphics looks pretty ok, but when compared to F1 2000 from Electronic Arts for example, they suck. in the driving game the feeling is just not there. The grass, the sand, the curves with tyremarks, all seem like gay to me. the overall scenery is pretty ok with trees and background textures, but the close details on the race track definitely needs more work.

Eh my rear wing is fucked, like the game itself.

It is just too arcade to me, there is menu selection for simulator or arcade, and if the simulation selection is this bad, I cannot even imagine what crap the arcade would be :)

Bah, thats on the sand (looks terrible btw).

Physics Model just plain and simply sucks. I got scared when I raced next to sauber or who ever it was, and all of the sudden the car next to me slowed too fast, and jinked to the left unrealistically :( ugh.
Also you cant break the car too easily, I drove fast speed to the tyrewall and what happens, my rear wing brokes, ehh!? it took way too much hammering to break the car, and even yet it could run limbing.

Official game, so where are the adverts?

I have to admit that the helicopter introduction of the track, with speech is pretty nice. altough it doesnt mean squat if the actual game is bad as this heh. The helicopter follower the track, with camera making nice moves from the track to chopper etc, the race announcer guy kept talking in the background about the curves and so on, would be kind of nice to see all the track introductions...

Tyrewear on the curwe, little too "static".

The garage of f1wgp is pretty ok, mostly the same tune ups are available as f1 2000, seems to me. they might be a bit less detailed tho, cannot remember out right the actual settings of f12000 here, so. But I guess you can tune up one formula car with the setups, they seem to do the job.

Schumacher is gay

The absolutely scary psx/arcade styled indicators on every goddamn corner of the screen just drives me mad, that kind of shit is not meant for simulator, never ever.

Yup, Mika Haeakkinen

Views are the standard from official f1 racing that I can remember, there are the usual track views, helicopter view (hmm was this on the official f1 racing, cant remember), they are all ok, but as the close shot of f1 racing on the track, it looks like shit...

That corner went wideee...

Conclusion

as I said, this sucks. cant help it, but these guys cannot make racing simulation. The F1 2000 is pretty bad compared to the legendary and some even say that the ONLY real F1 game, F1 Grand Prix 2 from Geoff Grammond (microprose), and yet f1wgp sucks even more than f1 2000... it gives you some perspective.
So, if you are looking for arcade driving game that looks somehow like the fancy formulas you seen on tv every two weeks, this might be for you. however if you are like me, who seeks out ultimate realism, hehe dont ever download this sucker, stay away from it, trust me :)
